Brent Verplancken

Brent recently graduated cum laude at Odisee Hogeschool Brussels getting his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Insurance and was the first person to join our Young Talents-program of 2022.
He also obtained a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Erasmushogeschool Brussels and spent time abroad in Norway where he combined studies at Høyskolen Kristiania with a part-time position at a venture capital firm.
After finding his way back to Belgium he wanted to expand his knowledge in insurances as he had noticed this part of people’s day-to-day life was often misunderstood and needed modernisation. Brent combines a hands-on approach with open communication and a sparkling personality on the work floor. Both operational and project-based tasks fall within his interest, he does however have a proclivity for anything life-insurance related.

“Oxygen’s Young Talents-program spoke to me due to its combination of equal parts learning through classes, seminars, e-learnings, etc. and work floor experience. I especially appreciate the low barrier structure here; everything, both professional and personal topics, can be discussed freely at Oxygen and there is always someone nearby to help guide you. I am very happy I got to start my consultant journey in such a wonderful company.”

If you speak any foreign languages, you can expect Brent to ask tons of questions about it as languages are his second big passion in life.
He speaks Dutch, French, English, Norwegian, Swedish and is currently learning Russian. No stranger to sports, he used to play volleyball competitively and ran track for several years.
During his time in Norway, he developed a passion for skiing and mountain hiking, which he still practices frequently. If you can’t find him in Belgium, it’s best to check the mountains around Oslo.
